To Churches
Do you
remember the story where Moses held his hands in the air while
the Israelites battled against Amalek? While Moses’ hands where
raised, the Israelites would prevail. But when Moses let his
hands down, the Amalekites would prevail. Moses’ arms eventually
became so heavy that he could not hold them up any longer.
However, Aaron and Hur propped up Moses’ arms with stones and
held them steady until Israel was able to defeat Amalek.Though I
do not wish to say that I am of any comparison to Moses, I do
think I know the burden he must have felt to try to hold his
hands in the air until Israel won the battle. That is exactly
how I feel at Camp Jacob.
I am
doing the best that I know how to help this ministry reach its
potential. But my arms are getting heavy. I need some people who
can help hold my arms up before I give way. The Camp Jacob Board
of Directors is currently considering a proposal that may enable
us to employ individuals who can help support and steady the
arms of the Camp Director.

In the
battle with the Amalekites, Moses had to position himself so
that he could be helped. So too, must Camp Jacob position itself
so that it can be helped. Please pray for me that I may endure
until reinforcements can come. Pray for God to send the
reinforcements that are needed. Also, pray for the Board of
Directors that they may know the direction in which God is
leading, and that they may have the courage to follow the
leading that He gives.

VBS Camp
Maybe
you’ve seen the new Chrysler commercials that say something
like, “You asked for it. Now, you’ve got it.” Well, that’s the
case with our new VBS Camp. The idea is that churches in the
area should join efforts to conduct Vacation Bible School at
Camp Jacob.
The response to this proposal by some is going to
be that VBS is a good outreach and exposure for your church.
While this may be true, think about advantage. More outreach
and exposure might be gained for your church if you spent the
time and resources you would normally spend in planning,
preparation, and conducting of VBS on personally inviting,
transporting, and actually reaching out to those in your
community to bring them to VBS.
I think
of the movie in which a farmer was told, “If you build it, he
will come.” This was to say that if he would build a baseball
field, a certain player would come. Many churches have adopted
this policy of “build it, and they will come.” However, we
should not fail to do as the Bible says in Mark 16:15, “Go ye
into all the world . . . .”
If you
or your church are interested or would like more information
about how you can join in on the efforts to further God’s
Kingdom, make a significant impact in your community, and have a
fantastic Vacation Bible School, please feel free to come by to
visit, give us a call, or shoot us an email at info@campjacob.com.
