ADOPT A CABIN

We are expecting God to bless us this year with the most campers that Camp Jacob has ever had in a summer.  Your church or church group can help us prepare by adopting a cabin to fix it up.  Estimated material costs to adopt a cabin range from $200 to $5,000 depending on which cabin is adopted.  You may also wish to join efforts with another church to take on one of the cabins.  Let’s make a positive impression for those who come by providing suitable accommodations.

To Campers

Hey Gang,

Can you believe that the  Giants won this year’s Super Bowl?  Nobody was expecting them to make it to the Super Bowl and much less to win it.  One writer referred to the match up as a David versus Goliath.   Then he said that he did not think this Goliath, talking about the Patriots, would go down as easily as the Goliath in the Bible.

To believe something that most of the world does not believe takes faith.  When the Giants took on the undefeated Patriots, they could have decided not to try very hard because most of the world thought they were going to lose.  But in spite of what everybody thought, the Giants thought they could win.  After all, they only lost by three points the first time they played.  Because they had enough faith to believe they could win, they put out the effort to actually allow them to win.

The same is true for trusting in Christ as our Savior.  Most of the world does not trust and follow Christ.  Most of the world says that it is impossible for Jesus to raise from the dead.  Therefore, most of the world lives like there is no Christ.  However, God has given us plenty of proof to trust in Jesus.  If we will only have enough faith to truly believe in Jesus, in spite of what the world believes, then we will take the actions that actually allow us to be saved.  Just as David beat Goliath, and the Giants beat the Patriots, we can win the battle for eternal life

    Love in Christ,

  Daniel Osborne

To Churches

Do you remember the story where Moses held his hands in the air while the Israelites battled against Amalek? While Moses’ hands where raised, the Israelites would prevail. But when Moses let his hands down, the Amalekites would prevail. Moses’ arms eventually became so heavy that he could not hold them up any longer. However, Aaron and Hur propped up Moses’ arms with stones and held them steady until Israel was able to defeat Amalek.Though I do not wish to say that I am of any comparison to Moses, I do think I know the burden he must have felt to try to hold his hands in the air until Israel won the battle. That is exactly how I feel at Camp Jacob.

I am doing the best that I know how to help this ministry reach its potential. But my arms are getting heavy. I need some people who can help hold my arms up before I give way. The Camp Jacob Board of Directors is currently considering a proposal that may enable us to employ individuals who can help support and steady the arms of the Camp Director.

In the battle with the Amalekites, Moses had to position himself so that he could be helped. So too, must Camp Jacob position itself so that it can be helped. Please pray for me that I may endure until reinforcements can come. Pray for God to send the reinforcements that are needed. Also, pray for the Board of Directors that they may know the direction in which God is leading, and that they may have the courage to follow the leading that He gives.

VBS Camp

Maybe you’ve seen the new Chrysler commercials that say something like, “You asked for it.  Now, you’ve got it.”  Well, that’s the case with our new VBS Camp.  The idea is that churches in the area should join efforts to conduct Vacation Bible School at Camp Jacob.

The response to this proposal by some is going to be that VBS is a good outreach and exposure for your church.  While this may be true, think about advantage.  More outreach and exposure might be gained for your church if you spent the time and resources you would normally spend in planning, preparation, and conducting of VBS on personally inviting, transporting, and actually reaching out to those in your community to bring them to VBS.

I think of the movie in which a farmer was told, “If you build it, he will come.”  This was to say that if he would build a baseball field, a certain player would come.  Many churches have adopted this policy of “build it, and they will come.”  However, we should not fail to do as the Bible says in Mark 16:15, “Go ye into all the world . . . .”

If you or your church are interested or would like more information about how you can join in on the efforts to further God’s Kingdom, make a significant impact in your community, and have a fantastic Vacation Bible School, please feel free to come by to visit, give us a call, or shoot us an email at info@campjacob.com.
