One of a Thousand in 2007

Update

In our last Jacob’s Journal, we introduced a support avenue called “One of a Thousand in 2007”.  This is an effort to get 1,000 individuals or families to give at least $25 per month for the remaining months of 2007 or $300 for the year.

As of April 20th, 44 pledges have been received, and we are very thankful for the sacrifices made.  This, however, is far short of the goal. I hope that you will join us in this effort.  I also hope that you will encourage your acquaintances to join in as well. More information below.

Camper Sponsors Needed

Every summer several campers desire to attend a week of camp but are unable to afford it.  Over the years, no camper has been refused due to financial need, because churches and individuals have met this need by sponsoring them through camper scholarships.  If you or your church are willing to provide a camper scholarship, please let us know.

From the Director

Greetings again in the name of our Lord,

Thanks be to God for those who have a pure heart and those who give of their time, energy, and finances to further God’s Kingdom.  Those just described are unfortunately very rare in this day and time.  Many are short changing God and themselves by pursuing pleasure, personal riches, power, and other temporal things.  While the country that we live in gives us a right to pursue such things,  true joy and riches only come from putting God first and serving Him.

Oh, how I would love to see our churches be healthy, vibrant, and on fire for God.  But in order to see this, I believe that we as Christian individuals and families need to put God first, over and above ALL other things.  This includes ourselves.  Look at God’s Word to see what blessings we miss through selfish pursuits.  Christ said “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).  Psalm 119:2 says “Blessed are they that keep His testimonies and that seek Him with the whole heart.”  James tells us that we will be blessed by being doers of the word and not hearers only (James 1:22-25).  These are only a few scriptures to note.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say “Blessed is he who seeks his own gain and pleasure.”  Yet, that is what many of us do.  Please, let us deny ourselves, take up our crosses, and follow Him.

In closing, I ask for you to pray that God will allow the Holy Spirit to intervene in the ministries of Camp Jacob.  May God bless us all as we seek to further His Kingdom.

Love in Christ,

Daniel Osborne

Cabin Adoption Updates

We are up to 7 cabins so far that have been adopted, these include:

o Cook’s Cabin – Hill Ridge FWB Church

o Preacher’s Cabin – Fremont FWB Church

o Nurse’s Cabin – Phillips Chapel

o Wilson Cabin – Pine Creek FWB Church

o Two Story – Splashdam FWB Church

o Cabin 30 (girl’s side) – Yates Chapel

o Cabin 29 (girl’s side) – Ferbie Chapel

Some have already begun renovations, doing things such as: replacing roofs, winterizing, replacing support posts,

replacing windows, sealing cracks, and other much needed improvements.  There are still about 13 cabins that need to be adopted, so maybe this is something your church could consider.
